THE CAPITAL NEWSPAPERS BENEFIT PROGRAM
We are very pleased to provide our full-time and eligible part-time
employees and their spouses, dependents and domestic partners with
a very competitive, and comprehensive benefit program:
HEALTH
Health Insurance
We offer four health insurance options to meet the diverse needs of
our employees. These options include:
- Comprehensive HMO
- Point of Service Plan (POS/PPO)
- High Deductible HMO
- High Deductible Point of Service Plan (POS/PPO)
In addition, we offer employees the opportunity to set up a Health
Savings Account with our High Deductible medical options.
Prescription Drug Plan
- A prescription drug plan is offered with all four of the medical
plans.
Dental Insurance
- Our dental program includes first-dollar coverage for preventive
care and orthodontic coverage for children under 19. There are
no waiting periods for basic, major, or restorative services. You
have the freedom to choose any dentist.
Vision Insurance
- Our vision program offers two options of coverage, the full plan
or the materials only plan. The materials only plan covers
materials such as lenses, frames, and contact lenses. The full
plan covers those same materials plus a yearly eye exam. You
have the freedom to choose any eye doctor.
Health Flexible Spending Account
- We offer a full flexible spending account that allows employees
to set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for medical, dental, or vision
expenses through payroll deduction. (Flexible spending accounts
are also available for dependent care.)
INCOME PROTECTION
Life Insurance
- The Company provides its employees a one time annual salary in
term life insurance (two times annual salary for managers).
- Employees can also choose to purchase voluntary term life
insurance for him/herself, spouse, and dependent children
through a convenient payroll deduction.
- Employees can choose to add accidental death and
dismemberment coverage to their voluntary coverage, which
provides a benefit in the event of an injury or death resulting
from an accidental injury.
Short-Term Disability
- Eligible employees are provided disability benefits in the event of
a non work-related disabling illness or injury.
Long-Term Disability
- Long-term disability is available for full-time employees after 18
months of employment (six months for managers) and can
replace up to 60% of their earnings to age 65.
FINANCIAL
Retirement Account Plan
- We have an excellent 401(k) plan with a wide variety of
investment options, daily valuation, and online access to
accounts. This program includes a profit sharing provision and a
company match.
Lee Enterprises Employee Stock Purchase Plan*
- This program allows employees to purchase Lee Enterprises
stock at 85% of the fair market value on an after-tax basis.
WORK/LIFE
Holidays
- Eligible employees are provided six paid holidays each year.
Vacation
- Eligible employees are provided vacation time based on years of
service.
Sick Pay
- Eligible employees are provided five days of sick time each fiscal
year.
Employee Assistance Program
- This free and confidential service is designed for employees and
their family members who seek professional counseling on a
variety of personal and family issues.
Dependent Care Flexible Spending Account
- We offer a full flexible spending account that allows employees
to set aside pre-tax dollars to pay for daycare expenses through
payroll deduction. (Flexible spending accounts are also available
for health care.)
Wellness Program
- Includes on-site exercise classes and weight reduction programs,
a free annual Health Risk Assessment, reimbursements for
wellness activities, the ability to earn a monthly discount on your
health insurance rates, and more.
